Connecting Soccer With the Community

OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Our Outreach programs go beyond the regular season to bring soccer to more players, families, and community members. From local events and personal training to coaching and referee certification, Outreach is all about making the game accessible, building skills, and growing soccer in the Greater Wheeling area.

Creating Safe and Positive Experiences

Safety First

Every Outreach activity is built around the same standards of safety as our seasonal programs. Coaches and trainers complete background checks, follow age-appropriate guidelines, and ensure a supportive, welcoming environment for players and participants.

How to Join In

Registration

Most Outreach opportunities are registered online through our secure third-party system. Whether you are signing up for personal training, a coaching course, or a referee clinic, our goal is to make it simple and clear. For special events, registration details will be posted on this page and announced on our social media.

Each player will need a water bottle, shorts of your choice, shin guards, and soccer cleats strongly recommended (no baseball or softball cleats). Team shirts will be provided to all players. Ball sizes vary by age group: U14 – size 5; U9 to U12 – size 4; U8 and under – size 3.

Earn Money and Stay in the Game

NEW REFEREE CLINIC INFORMATION

We are looking for new referees who want to make some money this coming fall soccer season!

We host a new referee course during summer. Anyone interested must be 13 years or older and must go through this very easy two-step process:

  1. Setup a free account and learn about the requirements at https://www.ussoccer.com/refs

  2. Register for our specific course here: https://learning.ussoccer.com/…/10000006/details/20007368

Anyone interested MUST complete all online modules first before attending the in-person component of the course on Fri, Aug 1st at the Sonneborn Shelter from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Our FC Wheeling club will reimburse the $50.00 cost of the course to any referee who successfully completes it and who referees at least six games this fall for us. Referees are paid at the field and there are quite a few games each week that need referees.

This is a great gig for players and adults alike who are looking to stay connected to the game and who want to make some money! Please contact us with any questions about this new referee clinic at fcwheeling@gmail.com.
