Our recreational league is where kids across the Greater Wheeling area take their first steps into the game. With no tryouts required, players of all skill levels can join, learn the basics, and enjoy playing in a positive, team-focused environment. The emphasis is on having fun, building confidence, and creating a love for soccer that lasts.

WHO WE ARE
Wheeling Area Soccer Association is a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to growing the game for kids across the region.
Since 1987, we’ve brought together players, parents, coaches, and volunteers who share a love for soccer and a commitment to youth development.From recreational play to competitive travel teams, our programs are built on teamwork, sportsmanship, and the belief that every child deserves a place on the field.

Safety and Player Wellbeing
Your child’s safety is our top priority. All WASA coaches and volunteers complete background checks, and many hold CPR and First Aid training to ensure a secure environment on and off the field. We follow age-appropriate guidelines for practices and games, focusing on positive coaching, sportsmanship, and respect. Our goal is to give every player a safe place to learn, compete, and enjoy the game.

Registration Made Simple
Registering for WASA programs is quick and easy through our secure online system, giving every player a chance to join the team and get ready for the season.
We are now registering players for the Spring 2026 outdoor recreational WASA/FC Wheeling season. As of Jan 1st, we have switched over to the new GotSport platform for all player & team registration. Please read the information below for each one of our programs, find the correct birth date of your player(s), and then, be sure to click on that specific age group link to register for the spring season. All registration will close March 1st, 2026. You are not guaranteed a spot on a team for the spring season if you do not register by March 1st.
Since you are registering for the first time on this platform, you will need to set up your parent account, have a copy of your child’s birth certificate, and a head and shoulders photo to upload. The system works best from a computer rather than from a phone; Google Chrome is the most compatible search engine to use.
Each player will need a water bottle, shorts of your choice, shin guards, and soccer cleats are strongly recommended (no baseball or softball cleats). Team shirts will be provided to all players; you will be able to select your shirt size as part of the registration process. Ball sizes vary by age group – U13 to U15 – size 5; U9 to U12 – size 4; U8 and under – size 3.
